Shayan Shafi is a seasoned energy and sustainability expert with 17 years of progressive experience. He has served 12 years at USAID Bangladesh, most recently as the Energy Team Leader and Senior Energy Advisor, and five years in the private renewable energy industry. His expertise spans renewable energy, cross-border electricity trade, industrial decarbonization, and regulatory reform.

Shayan holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, an MS in Renewable Energy Technology, and an MBA in Finance. He completed executive education on Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies at the University of Cambridge. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and a Level-II certified Contracting Officer’s Representative by the U.S. Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI, USA).

Shayan has received multiple U.S. Government Honor Awards, including the prestigious Agency Superior Honor Award, and brings international experience from assignments in the USA, South Africa, Thailand, and India.
