Shayan Shafi is a seasoned energy and sustainability leader with over 17 years of experience. His career bridges senior roles in the development and private sectors, combining strategic advisory, policy reform, and multi-country program leadership. An expert in high-level public policy engagement, Shayan’s work centers on clean energy, cross-border electricity trade (CBET), industrial decarbonization, and corporate access to clean electricity through Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs), Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), and investment facilitation mechanisms.
Shayan currently serves as Stakeholder Engagement & Public Affairs Manager at H&M. Previously, he spent twelve years as the Energy Team Leader at USAID Bangladesh, leading USAID’s energy sector strategies and multi-million dollar programs in Bangladesh and South Asia.
Shayan holds B.Sc in Engineering, MS in Renewable Energy, and MBA in Finance. He completed Executive Education on Circular Economy & Sustainability Strategies at the University of Cambridge and is a certified PMP®. He is a recipient of multiple U.S. Government Honor Awards, including the USAID Superior Honor Award.
